Birdie G's

Critically-acclaimed Chef/Owner Jeremy Fox debuted this very personal restaurant in June 2019 within Santa Monica’s historic Bergamot Station. “Named after my daughter Birdie and my grandmother Gladys, Birdie G’s is a fun, American restaurant inspired by childhood memories and family traditions. How do I define our style? Easy…it’s the product of an Eastern-European Jew who grew up in the Midwest and the Deep South, and then settled in Southern California. I don’t know how I can make it any clearer. At the end of the day, Birdie G’s is ‘where fine food and good people meet.’”– Chef/Co-Owner Jeremy Fox

Jeremy Fox

As a master of farmers’ market-driven cuisine, Jeremy Fox is the award-winning chef/owner behind Rustic Canyon and Birdie G’s in Santa Monica, CA and cookbook author of the James Beard-nominated "On Vegetables". A cook since the age of 19 with roots in the South, he first worked back-of-house positions at Anson Restaurant in Charleston, SC, and Mumbo Jumbo in Atlanta, his hometown. He eventually made his way out west and worked at many notable restaurants up and down the coast of California, including as CDC for David Kinch at Manresa, and the groundbreaking vegetarian restaurant Ubuntu in Napa Valley. Jeremy joined the Rustic Canyon Family as Rustic Canyon’s chef in 2013, and grew into a partnership role. At both Birdie G’s and Rustic Canyon, he implements a wildly creative, zero-waste, slow food ethos and draws constant inspiration from the nearby Santa Monica Farmers’ Market and other local purveyors.

Why We Love It

Inspired by local purveyors and the nearby Santa Monica Farmers’ Market, the cuisine at Birdie G’s embraces hyper-seasonality and simplicity. The cooking is refined, intentional, and serious, but the restaurant is playful, approachable, and most of all, fun.

Why We Love It

The Eastern European-meets-California cuisine at Birdie G’s celebrates Jeremy’s roots, pulling influences from Hungary, Poland, Ukraine, Germany and more. The cooking is refined, intentional and serious, but the restaurant is playful, approachable, and most of all, fun.
